Manta Sidhu
Trustee at People For Animals, Gurugram
With over 24 years of experience in animal rescue and welfare, Manta Sidhu brings extensive on-ground expertise to her role as Trustee at People For Animals, Gurugram. She is actively involved in overseeing rescue operations, treatment protocols, and the rehabilitation of injured and sick animals. Working closely with medical and caregiving teams, she contributes to building and maintaining structured systems that enable the organisation to manage a high volume of critical cases with consistency and care. Having developed her skills through hands-on experience in various rescue facilities, Manta Sidhu specialises as a caregiver, with a strong understanding of animal recovery, long-term care, and welfare management. In addition to her work at the rescue centre, she has conducted awareness workshops for thousands of school students across Delhi NCR, focusing on responsible behaviour, compassion, and coexistence with animals. Her work reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening animal welfare systems through a combination of practical experience, structured processes, and community engagement.
Dr. Nitin Khanagwal
Trustee & Head Veterinarian
Dr. Nitin Khanagwal serves as a Trustee and the Head Veterinarian at People for Animals, Gurugram, where he has been actively contributing since 2022. With a strong commitment to animal welfare and clinical excellence, he leads the institute’s veterinary services with dedication and compassion. Dr. Khanagwal has extensive hands-on experience in both routine and emergency veterinary care. His surgical exposure includes Animal Birth Control (ABC) procedures, emergency surgeries, and tumor removal cases. He has successfully managed numerous critical cases, including severely anemic and tick fever–affected patients requiring blood transfusions, as well as complex trauma cases such as mandibular (jaw) fractures and bilateral forelimb fractures. In his dual role, he oversees clinical operations, supervises treatment and rehabilitation protocols, and ensures the highest standards of care for rescued and vulnerable animals. As a trustee, he also contributes to strategic planning and the expansion of welfare initiatives, strengthening the organization’s impact in the community. Driven by empathy and professional integrity, Dr. Khanagwal believes in a holistic approach to animal care—combining advanced medical treatment with rehabilitation, awareness, and advocacy. His work continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless animals.
Dr.Sushrut Pownikar
Trustee I Head - Corporate Partnerships & CSR
His tryst with animal welfare started not so long ago when started feeding strays near his corporate office. Soon he was hooked and taking care of a motley dozen dogs on a daily basi. It is during this period he got involved with PFA gurugram and started taking part in charitable activities. He believes investing in empathy will eventually save the world. He is a consummate professional has more than 20 years of experience working as a laboratory Doctor in India’s leading corporate chain laboratories like Dr. LalPathlabs( Head- Hematology and Immunology), Diagno labs ( Regional Director-North), Suraksha Diagnostics ( Regional Director-North) Neuberg Diagnostics( Regional director and Profit centre head) and Oncquest laboratories ( Dep. Director and National Head Quality) . He brings his experience in corporate sector to our organization to help streamline workflow and create traction with industries that want to make a difference by contributing in animal welfare. Presently he is lab director at Annaiv Healthcare; actively taking care of 2 dozen strays in his area and also connecting, generating goodwill amongst fellow professionals to help our NGO reach the ones that need care and protection.
